Beckett's Farm Cookery School

we've developed our very own, purpose-built, Cookery School ...

In Becketts Farm Shop you can buy the finest, locally produced, basic food ingredients. But, because we're also passionate about the cooking, presentation and sheer enjoyment of good food, we've now carried our story one stage The cookery school at Beckett's Farm further. We've developed a Cookery School at the Farm Shop, in a new, purpose-built section we call the Orange Kitchen. There's a reception/tasting room plus the kitchen itself where there are 6 individual workstations plus space for a master chef to explain and demonstrate. We believe this to be the Midlands' first private cookery school.

We're offering a wide range of Cookery Courses. There's something to suit everyone: be they novice, accomplished cook, aspiring chef, or anyone wishing to improve his/her own personal cooking skills. Our Courses are, above all, fun - it's a great night out for everyone and even more fun (and it works out cheaper too) if two people share a station.

Vegetables prepared for a Cookery Class Our Cookery School chefs have developed a range of courses. Each course is participant-based and the "pupils" take home the dishes they have made. Nibbles and drinks are available through the evening. Click on the links below for further details. The Courses are:

*Prices quoted are per work station. The lower price would refer to one person per work station. The higher price is for two people provided they share the same workstation.

Children's Classes each Half Term. In particular Becketts is passionate Children's cookery class about introducing children (and we're talking about 8-15 year olds) to food and the pleasures and benefits of cooking and eating the best from our wonderful British heritage. So every half term we hold three classes where the children cook two dishes apiece and take home the results. See the schedule for the June 2010 Half Term Lessons.

We've introduced a new Young Adult Class for the first time. This would be eminently suitable for any 15-18 year old preparing to look after him or herself while away at college. The class will be held on 20th August from 11-3 pm and will show how to create three economical and healthy dishes from one basic beef mince mix. See our full Summer Schedule of Cookery Courses.

Bespoke Classes. The words "bespoke" and "Becketts" are synonymous. The concept naturally applies to cookery classes as well as to the other departments in our Farm Shop. If a small group would like a bespoke course centred on the cookery disciplines of their choice, then contact Niki Povey and a course will be created especially for you. This might be particularly suitable for a family day or a birthday party.

Hen Parties and Stag Nights. This really would be something different - and the bride/groom might learn something practical too! Discuss with Niki who would be delighted to tailor an evening especially for you.

Children's Birthday Parties. These aren't cookery courses as such. They're Children's party simply the greatest fun that little people could possibly have to celebrate their special day. Up to twelve 6-12 year olds can hold a themed party where they learn to decorate cakes, bake two dishes and take the results home. It's an hour and a half of sticky, messy delight and enormously popular. These parties are led by the Confectioners from our Bakery Department - ask there if you wish to make a booking. Summer Special Offer : there will be 10% off all bookings for August - but do mention that you saw this on our website.

Team Building Courses. Becketts offers many options for team building A team building exercise in our Cookery School courses that complement the Conference Facilities available. Some of these involve the Farm's heavy machinery but others use the facilities of our Cookery School. Indeed it is possible to combine both sets of facilities! (And of course that little word "bespoke" can enter the equation too). An hilarious afternoon of pasta and breadmaking, or pasta and tractor driving will weld a dozen individuals into a single team like no other activity! See brochure of our team building courses.
