Giovanni De Luca

Giovanni De Luca is a talented chef, with many years experience in Italian cooking. His recipes are inspired from his time growing up in Italy and traditional Italian cuisine. Working with organic ingredients is very important to Giovanni and he endeavours to source them as much as possible. To ensure that the food tastes great, Giovanni also sources the freshest and most local ingredients for his dishes.

Giovanni spent many years running an award-winning restaurant “Giovanni’s” in Kings Heath, before opening in Dickens Heath in 2005. Giovanni takes pride in serving delicious Italian style cuisine. The restaurant has now closed, however we are pleased that Giovanni is a guest chef here at Becketts Farm Orange Kitchen.

Whereabouts in Italy did you grow up?

I grew up in Venice, which is in the north of Italy. It is a beautiful city, which boasts many canals and waterways that are very popular with tourists and Italians alike.

When did you move over to England?

I moved to England in 1969, when I began working in Café Royal in London and met my lovely wife, Mandy. Before moving to England, I trained in Switzerland at a hotel and catering college, followed by some work experience in Austria.
