It’s been a while since I last shared an update with you all, so I thought it was about time you were brought up to speed! I am slowing down into retirement and taking steps back away from the business as Adrian steps up as our new Managing Director. Geoff, our Farm Director, and Ian, our Retail Director, are also heading towards retirement – both of whom have been working with us for decades, so it’s all change on the horizon here at Becketts Farm!

Out on the farm, this hot weather and lack of rain is leading towards heavy clay soil. It’s not causing us any problems just yet but may start to soon. Let’s hope for a sprinkling of rain!!

The annual Sunflower fields have been planted on site and we hope to open the fields to visitors in the summer months. Once again, we shall be raising money for charity, with the partner for 2026 to be decided and announced in the coming months. It’s always so wonderful to see the joy the fields bring to our visitors and to be able to support a local charity alongside this is fantastic! Keep an eye on our website and social media pages for all the information.

In the Farm Shop, the butchers are busy preparing hundreds of chicken kebabs, burgers and more for your sunny evening BBQs. It’d be rude not to fire up the grill while it’s sunny, we all know what the great British weather is like!!

Sadly, old age has caught up with me and I have a torn meniscus in my knee. It’s certainly causing me problems, but I won’t let it stop me!

My late father gifted me some bag pipes and told me I can either learn to play them or sell them on. Of course, I decided to have a go at playing them! They’re very temperamental and quite hard work but I’m told my rendition of “Happy Birthday” isn’t terrible so perhaps I’ll keep practising!

My updates may not come as often as they previously have done, but I’ll be sure to share an update of the goings on every so often.
