With the bank holiday weekend on the horizon, we wanted to put a spotlight on some of the amazing local breweries whose beers we are proud to stock. Our shelves are brimming full of over 100 different ales, beers, and ciders from 20 select producers. The below breweries are all within a 50-mile radius of our Farm Shop. One of them is as close as just 2 miles from our doorstep. With multiple awards between them, some fantastically innovative and sustainable processes, and some truly characterful brews, weโre so proud to support the best that the region has to offer. Why not grab a bottle or two and try something new this bank holiday weekend?
Weatheroak Hill Brewery
Distance from our Farm Shop: 2 miles.
Based just two miles down the road, the beers we stock from Weatheroak Hill Brewery are our most local. The micro-brewery is situated at independent freehouse, The Coach and Horses Inn. These guys certainly know their beers and ales! Established in 2008, Weatheroak Hill Brewery has been supplying the Coach & Horses with quality beers brewed on site for a decade and a half, travelling a mere 50 metres from grain to glass. And it really isnโt much further down the road for them to journey to us either!
Featured Product: Barrel Juice Session IPA is bursting with tropical fruit, mango and citrus flavours on a mellow hazy background. We love the quirky name and the explosive fruity taste of this delicious IPA.
Birmingham Brewing Co.
Distance from our Farm Shop: 5 miles.
Born and brewed in Brum, this local brewery has been on the scene since 2016. All their beers are both gluten free and vegan, so everyone can enjoy them! 100% of the operations at both the taproom and brewery are fuelled by renewable energy โ how is that for a commitment to sustainability!?
Featured Product: The Sober Brummie is a fantastic 0.5%Vol beer, brewed exactly like an alcoholic beer and dry hopped with a blend of citra, chinook, centennial, and mosaic, to give a zingy, fresh experience that tantalizes the taste buds with each sip.
Purity
Distance from our Farm Shop: 12 miles.
Youโll be spoilt for choice by the huge range of beers made by Purity, only 12 miles down the Alcester Road and set in the Warwickshire countryside. Purity Brewing Co. was established in 2005, and is a world-class brewery with sustainability at its core. Weโve stocked Purity on our shelves for as long as we can remember and enjoyed many tasting sessions with them here at Becketts Farm.
Featured Product: Pure Gold was the first beer to flow through the Purity brewhouse, their original brew. This makes it a firm favourite here with customers and is an easy drinking beer full of character.
Brew 61
Distance from our Farm Shop: 13 miles.
Founded in 2019, Brew 61 is an award-winning micro-brewery based 13 miles away on a family farm in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. The farming environment has always been the inspiration behind the beers, most of which are named after the farmโs location and its herd of Highland Cows and flock of Dorset sheep. The by-product of the brewing process (the spent barley grains) are fed to the livestock, affectionately known as โthe grazing girlsโ, with the breweryโs range of 11 beers featuring a light ale called โThe Grazing Girlsโ.
Featured Product: Award-winning Greenfields Gold has won a SIBA gold award for our bottles of Greenfields Gold. A lovely light golden session IPA at 3.8%. A fresh citrus aroma is balanced with a light hoppy and malt taste and a subtle bitterness.
Holdenโs Brewery
Distance from our Farm Shop: 17 miles.
The oldest established brewery in our line up of beers is Holdenโs Brewery, rooted in the Black Country. Brewing since 1915 and now ran by the fourth-generation of family brewers, their traditional line-up of beers and ales are superb. From a single pub in 1875 to a brewing icon, the Holdenโs family business embodies the Black Countryโs heart and history. With generations of experience these beers have been fine tuned to perfection!
Featured Product: The Black Country Special from Holdenโs is a 5.1% ABV real industrial strength beer. If you like your beers robust with malty overtones and a full-bodied taste, this is the one for you.
Windmill Hill
Distance from our Farm Shop: 20 miles.
Windmill Hill Brewery is set in the beautiful Warwickshire countryside. They have a range of four core beers and regularly experiment with brewing processes and flavours to deliver truly unique artisan ales. As well as the core range, the brewery has seasonal offerings too. You can visit their Leamington-based taproom to enjoy their beers with friends. And you can even book a 2-hour tour of the Brewery with beer tasting.
Featured Product: Copper Ale is a classically strong British ale. It is well balanced and beautifully golden amber in colour. A perfect blend of caramel and light fruity notes, topped with hints of roasted malts.
Shakespeare Brewing Co.
Distance from our Farm Shop: 32 miles.ย
Craft ales, โas you like itโ from Shakespeare Brewing Co. Their beers, named after the Bardโs finest worksย are crafted with the finest ingredients at a brewery set in the Cotswolds, just a stonesthrow from the birthplace of Shakespeare, in Stratford-Upon-Avon.
Featured Product: The Othello is a dark, ruby ale which is rich and smooth with hints of chocolate and vanilla.
The Hop Shed
Distance from our Farm Shop: 37 miles.
The Hop Shed are not only brewers, but theyโre also hop growers too! When visiting the Hop Shed in the beautiful Worcestershire countryside, youโll see the hop fields surrounding the brewery and tap room. The brewery have some exceptional eco credentials, ensuring that their production processes are efficient with minimal impact on the land which they farm and our wider environment.
Featured Product: Pekinโ Worcestershire Pale Ale is a refreshing pale ale with hints of tropical fruit. Exclusively hopped with a new experimental hop, developed, and grown on the Hop Shed farm. Truly unique to this producer!
Wye Valley Brewery
Distance from our Farm Shop: 41 miles.
Based in the Herefordshire countryside, with the perfect environment for growing some of the best quality British hops sits Wye Valley Brewery. Their draught beers are a staple in many pubs across the West Midlands and you can buy their excellent, bottled beers straight from our Farm Shop.
Featured Product: The Butty Bach beer is a charmingly smooth premium ale. Its name comes from the Welsh for โlittle friendโ and this beer is certainly one to make acquaintances with!
