Each year at Becketts Farm, we endeavour to give back to the community as best as we can by supporting local schools, organisations and charities with fundraising. We do this in a number of ways, and we’re always so pleased to hear back some amazing fundraising totals!
Additionally, our team members and customers get involved in various charity appeals and we are always blown away by your generosity towards causes close to our hearts and the hearts of the community we serve.
Here are some of our 2023 charity highlights!
Becketts Community Fund
If you shop in our Farm Shop, you will have seen our token drop point near the main tills. This enables us to support three charities or community groups every quarter. Simply pick up a token when you pay and place your vote. At the end of the quarter, we use the tokens as a guide to split the fund proportionally, meaning each charity receives something and no one goes without.
In 2023, our community scheme gave away over £5200. Charities we supported through this included: Immanuel Pre-School Playgroup, 198th Birmingham Scout Group, Inclusive Sports Academy, Hillfield AFC and Be Kind.
If you work or volunteer for a local charity which you feel could benefit from the scheme, you can submit an application here.
Sunflowers
Over the summer months, we opened our sunflower field for visitors to wander at their leisure. We always love the see the beautiful photos taken. But, more importantly, through your generosity we raised £1661.52 for Cash for Kids. We hope to open up our sunflower field again this summer and support another wonderful cause. Follow our Facebook page to be the first to hear when it will open!
Raffle Donations and Sponsorships
There have been many seasonal school, church and community fetes in the past year, which have been lovely to hear about. We’ve been very glad to supply gift vouchers and luxury gift hampers to a number of raffles, auctions and fundraisers. In total, we’ve donated just over £4500 worth of prizes and we’ve loved hearing back from your really grand totals!
We also sponsored Earlswood Town FC and Kings Heath Horse Show.
Food donations
Whether its hundreds of pumpkins at Halloween, mince pies at Christmas or cakes and treats for bake sales throughout the year, we supported lots of you through donations of our fantastic produce.
We regularly donate bread rolls and cakes to the Dementia Café at Wythall Institute for their monthly lunch events and continue to make regular drops to Isaac’s Foodbank in Redditch.
We have also made fresh fruit donations to local scout and beaver groups for their ‘camps’, 115 pumpkins and around £270 worth of cakes and bakes to various local charities and organisations. At the end of December, we donated 1000 eggs to Birmingham Shelter, in support of their big Christmas breakfast for the homeless.
Wythall Winter Wonderland
Each year, a group of local volunteers hold many amazing charity events, fundraising for Hollytrees Animal Rescue, Teenage Cancer Trust and Acorns Children’s Hospice. We sponsored the grotto at Wythall Winter Wonderland, so that Father Christmas could make some extra special toys for all the children who visited him! Alison and her team work hard to put these events on and have raised thousands of pounds for each of the charities which is an incredible achievement and a true team effort! We are proud to be part of such a kind and caring community.
St Basils
Thanks to all our staff and customers, we were able to take a huge amount of donations to St Basils accommodation point in Redditch throughout the year. This charity supports hundreds of young people who have been made homeless with accommodation and support services. Our drop-off point at the Farm Shop tills is open year-round. Items being collected include long-life foods, toiletries, mother and baby items and bedding/towels. All items donated must be new, unopened and unused. You can find a full wishlist of items we are collecting here.
Other donations through the year
Macmillan Coffee Morning – £337.28
Christmas Jumper Day – £60
Through our Easter event, we were also able to make a donation of £567.09 to Hollytrees Animal Rescue Trust.
To the staff and volunteers at all the community charities we have supported, we take our hats off to you for your hard work! We know our support is a drop in the ocean compared to the immense dedication and passion that you put into these local causes. We feel proud to be part of Wythall (the centre of the universe!) and its neighbouring towns and villages.
For any charity requests, please contact our team via email info@beckettsfarm.co.uk and we’ll endeavour to help where possible.
