January can be a tough month to get motivated at the best of times, however with the continued National Lockdown due to Covid 19, it has been an even tougher start to 2021 for many.
This has got us thinking into how people have been keeping themselves occupied during their time at home in the 3rd lockdown and staying motivated daily! It may be giving yourself little tasks to complete each day or getting your daily exercise. You may even have a big project that you have wanted to do for a long time, but never had the time to do it or it could be learning a new skill.
We have asked some of our staff members what they have been doing to keep themselves busy and motivated during lockdown. Some have continued to work to provide essentials to the community and others have been spending more time than usual at home due to closure of the Restaurant.
We hope some of these ideas will motivate you to carry on throughout the start of this year and when normality does resume, you may have a new skill or a new way of thinking!
Chloe (Accounts) – ‘I have been spending 5 – 10 minutes extra a day to myself, taking care of my skin by implementing a new skin care regime.’
Louise (Marketing) – ‘I have started learning Calligraphy. After receiving a set for Christmas I try and spend some time each week perfecting this new skill.’
Mandy & Courtney (Cleaning) – ‘We love organising and cleaning funnily enough! There is nothing that cannot be organised and labelled!’
Carol (Accounts) – ‘I am taking time each day to be thankful for 3 things. Even if it’s just my hubby bringing me a cuppa in the morning!’
Anthony (Restaurant) – ‘I have been setting myself little tasks each day to keep a routine like long walks with the dog, decorating and having a clear out.’
Louie (Coffee Shop) – ‘I have started gift wrapping hampers for family and friends so that is keeping me busy and it is a new skill which I didn’t have before.’
Millie (Bakery) – ‘Along side working in the Bakery, I have been perfecting my cocktail making at home. My favourites to make are a Mojito and a Porn star Martini!’
Jim (Restaurant) – ‘I started to learn Spanish during the first lockdown last March and continue to learn it now. ‘Me encanta mi desayuno en Becketts!’
Janet (Deli) – ‘I have been grateful to continue to come to work and that is what is motivating me daily and keeping me going!’
Everyone’s journey throughout lockdown will be different. Having an ‘off’ day is absolutely ok! We will all come through this together and hopefully we can take some of these new ways of being motivated and keeping busy into our everyday lives! Stay Safe xx
