This is a perfect, no fuss dinner party dessert. When warm, this gooey chocolate and pear pudding made with dark chocolate and poached pears is delicious served with ice cream or cream.
300g Golden Caster Sugar
4 Large Eggs
75g Plain Flour
50g Cocoa Powder
3 Large Pears (poached and cooled)
100g Plain Dark Chocolate
25g Flaked Almonds (optional)
Cream or Ice Cream to serve
Heat the oven to 190c/Gas 5.
Lightly grease a 20 x 30cm shallow oven proof dish.
Melt the butter over a low heat and remove to add the golden caster sugar until well combined.
Whisk the eggs together in a large bowl and then gradually add to the butter and sugar, beating well with a wooden spoon.
Sift the flour and cocoa powder on top of the egg mixture and mix until thoroughly combined.
Pour into the ovenproof dish and nestle the pears into the chocolate batter.
Cut the chocolate into chunks and scatter over the batter and sprinkle with almonds if using.
Bake in the centre of the pre heated oven for 30 minutes or until the mixture is crusty on the surface and lightly cooked inside.
Serve warm with ice cream or cream.
