Since we last spoke, the sunflower fields have been and gone. Sadly, the fields werenβt open for quite as long this year due to a shortened blooming period. Nevertheless, the fundraising effort from visitors and the local community was fantastic, raising a brilliant Β£2,603.48 for Help Harry Help Others, a local cancer support charity.
It looks like weβre in for a spell of dry weather, and as such, we may attempt to get the combine harvester into the fields to harvest the sunflower seeds. The main word there being βattemptβ β the flowers are very wet, which could cause some troublesome blockages in the combine. All we can do is try!
After a mild start to autumn, weβre all planted up for next year, which is great news. We recently purchased a new sprayer for the farm β a second-hand, self-propelled, 36m-wide model. Itβs relatively small but does the job we need!
