The Christmas and New Year celebrations now seem like a distant memory and it’s hard to believe we are over halfway through January already. That being said, I’d like to take the opportunity to wish you all a happy and healthy 2024 and thank you all for supporting us last year. The buzz around site throughout December never fails to put a smile on my face.

Just before Christmas, I had a short break away to Tenerife which was glorious. As you know, I’m a lover of great food so I jumped at the chance to be able to dine in a 2 star Michelin restaurant. It is said that too much choice isn’t always a good thing, and this was very much the case with their wine menu. I was completely astounded when it arrived at the table! After a little deliberation, I did manage to make a choice!

Although temperatures are freezing at the moment, I am very glad it’s not raining! I flew over Stratford Racecourse earlier this month and wasn’t surprised to see that it was completely underwater! It’s not until you see rainfall from above that you realise the impact it has and how far it travels. The farm team will certainly be taking advantage of the current dry weather, and hope to get out and plough the old sunflowers that are still standing from last summer! The copious amount of rain we’ve had since they finished blooming has meant that we still haven’t had chance to cultivate them.

Cold weather certainly calls for comfort food! Being a keen baker, I tried my hand at a Baked Alaska recently. I may not quite be at Masterchef level, but I was happy with the final result. It went down a treat with others too, so I must be doing something right!

January is never a quiet month for our events team, who are busy putting plans in place for our next family event. ‘There’s Something Hatching at Becketts’ will return between 23rd March and 7th April this year. Be sure to keep an eye out for all the details will be following soon.
