At Becketts Farm we are always striving to reduce food miles and support local suppliers. British Food Fortnight 2020 runs from 19th September – 4th October, and we are celebrating all that is local and British. Except for some speciality ingredients, fruit and vegetables our Farm Shop is packed to the rafters with fantastic British products and producers. Here are some of our favourite British suppliers.
Becketts Bakery Bread
The Bakers here, certainly have their work cut out. Their production sheet includes over 60 different products in multiple amounts, that are baked every day. Bread alone, there are over 50 different types. This includes a mixture of white, wholemeal, granary, tiger and many more. You just can’t beat the smell of fresh bread. Enjoy a slice of your favourite with lashings of butter this British Food Fortnight!
R&L Holt Tomatoes
We source our tomatoes from Evesham growers, R & L Holt. They are a family run tomato business which started growing tomatoes in the early 1980’s. They use some fascinating and sustainable methods, allowing them to grow and produce tomatoes all year round! With over forty years’ experience and the largest tomato growers in the Midlands, our greengrocers really trust them. They deliver quality produce to Becketts Farm, quite simply a fantastic British product.

Fowler’s Cheese
Fowler’s is just 2 miles down the road from us in Earlswood. They are a family-run cheese maker that has been in business since 1670. For over fourteen generations the Fowler family has been developing the craft of cheese-making. And it is not just their heritage that is impressive – Fowler’s cheeses are second to none. If you’re looking for a truly fantastic locally produced cheese that tastes divine, then look no further. You’re sure to find your new favourite among their twenty different hard and soft cheeses.

Mrs Darlington’s
Marion Darlington started making her award-winning range of products in the 1980s. Now 80 years young, Marion is still the ‘Mary Berry’ of recipe creation in the family firm – there are few to rival her skill in creating preserves and chutneys with such a fabulous homemade taste. We are proud to stock a wide range of Mrs Darlington’s jams, chutney’s, curds and so much more.

Charlie and Ivy’s
The Palmer family have been making their award-winning products on their farm in Yorkshire since 2014. Great care and attention go into every bottle, from the first recipe development ideas through to sending orders out to our customers. Birmingham Brewing
Birmingham Brewing Company established itself in November 2016 with the aim of providing high quality, locally brewed beer to the Birmingham Area. They believe that the only way to make exceptional beer is to use the best ingredients they can find, because of this their beers are unique and have distinctive flavours. Pershore Apple Juice
Pershore College have been growing their own fruit since the fifties and pressed their first apple juice as part of a student-led horticultural project back in 1993. The juice was so well received they quickly began pressing more varieties from the college orchard to sell both as juice and cider, and it was not long before they established their own commercial juicing and bottling unit at the college. We have many flavours to choose from in our Farm Shop.
The Garlic Farm
The Garlic Farm have been growing garlic on the Isle of Wight ever since their Granny Norah planted the first few cloves in her garden over 60 years ago. Since then they have been exploring its history and origins, experimenting with many different varieties, and creating a range garlic infused products from garlic mayonnaise to garlicky chutneys and from black garlic beer to garlic ice cream. When you’re next visiting the Isle of Wight, we recommend visiting the farm, until then pick up some yummy products instore and try some delicious recipe ideas.
Becketts Deli Quiche
If you haven’t tried our delicious Becketts Quiche, now is the time! These delicious, freshly baked quiches need to make your shopping list this week! With a range of flavours to choose from there is something for everyone. As they are super popular with our regulars, we thought they deserved a shout out the British Food Fortnight!
Happy Chuck Eggs
Happy Chucks Eggs based in Gloucestershire have been supplying us with eggs for eight years. We have huge confidence in this supplier to deliver us excellent quality and high welfare eggs. Founded by Moira Wells, and partner Tony Harding, free range and high-quality graded eggs are key for this British business. Whether its medium, large, extra-large, or double yolkers you are after, we have it all at our Greengrocers department.
Caldecott Poultry
Three generations of the Caldecott family have farmed the land in Wythall, Worcestershire since 1933. A history not dissimilar to our own! Robert Caldecott and his family are compassionate and caring farmers believing that the poultry which they farm deserve kindness, dignity, and respect. The farm is well renowned both locally and up and down the country, we are just so lucky to have them right here on our doorstep. Pick up their whole chickens from our Butchers counter all year round or when Christmas comes around, choose a Caldecott’s turkey for a local bird.
Yau’s Oriental Sauce
Yau’s started back in 2012 in Peterborough, when Bonnie and Philip Yau created their first homemade Sweet and Sour sauce. After an overwhelming response they took the plunge and set about creating a business that specialised in all-natural, free from sauces. St Maur
William and Kelsey Seymour first produced St Maur for their Wedding Day. They wanted to celebrate with a glass of something uniquely special, that captured the spirit of their lovely day. Drawing on old family recipes handed down to them, they created St Maur, and named it after their family heritage which goes back to the Middle Ages. St Maur can be enjoyed in many ways including, quite simply with soda water over ice.
Snowdonia Black Bomber
The Snowdonia cheese company was first established in 2001 on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park. Where Cheddar’s are concerned, their multi-award-winning Black Bomber® is a modern classic. Their flagship cheese marries a delicious rich flavour with a smooth creaminess, lasting long on the palate but remaining demandingly moreish! Pick yours up today from our Deli counter.
Lyme Bay Wine
Lyme Bay Winery in Devon has been producing award winning wine for 25 years! Each product is fermented, blended, and aged, as appropriate at the Winery in Devon, under the supervision of our experienced team and you can find out more about their winery on their webpage.
