Each year here at Becketts Farm, we aim to give back to the community by supporting local schools, organisations and charities with fundraising. We offer support in a number of ways and we’re always so pleased to hear about your amazing fundraising totals!
Additionally, our team members and customers get involved in various charity appeals throughout the year. We are always blown away by the generosity towards causes close to both our hearts and those of the community we serve.
Find below some of our 2024 charity highlights!
Becketts Community Scheme
Near the Farm Shop tills, we have a token drop point which enables us to support three charities or organisations each quarter, funded by our carrier bag sales. Simply pick up a token when you visit us and place your vote! At the end of each quarter, we use the tokens as a guide to split the funds proportionally, meaning each charity receives a donation and importantly, that no one goes without.
In 2024, our community scheme gave away over £6500, a record amount. Charities and groups we supported through this included: Kings Norton Youth Marching Band, First Woodrow Rainbows, Friends of St James PTA and Leafield Ladies FC.
If you work or volunteer for a local charity or community group that you feel could benefit from the scheme, you can submit an application here.
Sunflower Appeal
Our ever-popular sunflower fields opened once again over the summer months, free for visitors to wander at their leisure. It is always a joy to see families and friends enjoying the space and the wonderful photos taken. But, more importantly, through your outstanding generosity we raised a whopping £4200 for Touchstones Child Bereavement Support. They work with bereaved children and young people within Worcestershire, offering unwavering support through some of their hardest days, as well as days out with peers in a similar situation.
We hope to open up our sunflower fields again this summer and support another wonderful cause. Be sure to follow us on Facebook to see our sunflower updates.
Raffle Donations and Sponsorships
There have been many seasonal school, church and community fundraising events that we have been able to get involved with over the past year. We’ve been glad to supply gift vouchers and luxury gift hampers to a number of raffles, auctions and fundraisers. In total, we’ve donated just over £5300 worth of prizes and there have been some really impressive totals raised, which has been amazing to hear.
We were also proud to sponsor Earlswood Town FC, Kings Heath Horse Show, Wythall YFC Annual Ploughing Match and Wythall Winter Wonderland.
Produce Donations
Whether it’s hundreds of pumpkins at Halloween, mince pies at Christmas or cakes for bake sales throughout the year, we’ve supported lots of you through donations of our fresh produce.
As always, we regularly donate bread rolls to the Memory Café at Wythall Institute for their lunch events.
In the past year, we’ve also donated fresh fruit portions to Reach CIC and over £200 worth of cakes and bakes to various local charities and organisations. At Halloween, we donated over 100 pumpkins locally, including to Birmingham Children’s Trust, Acorns Children’s Hospice and Allen’s Croft Primary School. Each year, we are proud to support Birmingham Shelter with a donation towards their big Christmas breakfast for the homeless, with December’s donation being 500 eggs.
St Basils
Thanks to all our customers and staff, we have been able to donate a huge amount to St Basils homelessness charity throughout the year. Back in October, we were glad to facilitate a bulk donation from Yardley Primary School – equating to 2 large cars full of long-life food and toiletries! All donations are sent to the local accommodation points, including Redditch and Bromsgrove. The team at St Basils have been completely overwhelmed with the continual support from our local community. The charity helps hundreds of young people who are or at risk of becoming homeless with their support services and accommodation.
If you’d like to make a donation, our drop-off point at the Farm Shop tills is open year-round. We collect long-life foods, toiletries, mother and baby items and bedding/towels. All items MUST be new, unopened and unused. You can find a full wish list of items we collect here.
Though we know our support is a drop in the ocean compared to the dedication and hard work of the staff and volunteers at the centre of the charities and community groups we support, we are incredibly proud to be part of the Wythall community and donate to local causes where possible.
For any charity requests, please contact our team with a formal request via email info@beckettsfarm.co.uk and we’ll endeavour to help where possible.
