These impressive looking Christmas Tree Prosciutto Palmiers are a tasty treat for New Year parties. They are so simple to make, but really give the wow factor with both their taste and appearance.
They’d make a pretty addition to any buffet spread, or we think they would taste delightful dipped in a steaming bowl of tomato soup for a festive lunchtime treat.
Cooks in: 25 mins
Makes: 10
Ingredients:
1 roll ‘ready-rolled’ puff pastry
6 slices prosciutto ham
10 green olives
10 cubes cheddar cheese
You will need: 10 wooden kebab skewers.
Method
Pre heat oven to 200°c. Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper.
Roll out the ready-rolled pastry and arrange the slices of prosciutto over the top, so that it covers all or most of the surface of the pastry in one single layer.
Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut the pastry lengthways into 10 equal strips.
Fold the 10 strips of dough accordion style, starting with a small amount and widening as you go (until you reach the end).
Push a kebab skewer through the centre from the base to the top of the tree. Place on the lined baking tray. Repeat with the remaining strips of pastry. Bake the trees for approximately 15 minutes or until golden.
Remove from the oven. Add an olive to the top of each tree, and a cube of cheese for the base to allow the kebab stick to stand up. You may find it necessary to shorten the kebab skewers by cutting some of the excess skewer to height.
