This National BBQ Week, these sticky BBQ pork steaks make a delicious yet simple meal. Cooking a pork steak on a BBQ or griddle is one of the best methods around. Not only does it sear in the meats’ natural juices to enhance the flavour, but it creates a perfectly tender texture. Our Butchers counter source lean British pork steaks, which are available to purchase from us 7 days a week.
Combine this with a tasty marinade and you’ll find your new favourite BBQ meat. Serve alongside a serving of Becketts’ Deli homemade coleslaw and potato wedges.
Ready in: 30 minutes, plus marinating time
Serves: 4
Ingredients
4 pork loin steaks
For the marinade
3 tbsp cider vinegar
3 tbsp soy sauce
3 tbsp tomato ketchup
1 tbsp runny honey
1 tbsp soft dark brown sugar
½ tbsp English mustard
Method
Mix together the marinade ingredients and tip into a shallow dish or large food bag. Add the pork steaks and coat well in the marinade. Leave in the fridge for at least 3 hours or, ideally, overnight. Remove the steaks from the fridge and bring to room temperature an hour before cooking.
Light your BBQ or preheat a griddle pan. Remove any excess marinade from the steaks, then cook for around 4 minutes on each side, turning occasionally until cooked through. Leave to rest for 10 minutes.
In the meantime, tip the remaining marinade into a pan and cook for 2 minutes until reduced and warmed through. Pour over the pork steaks.
Serve with Becketts’ Deli homemade coleslaw and potato wedges.
