At long last the sunflower field is open! The wonderful Lauren officially opened our sunflower field on Friday 27^th August by cutting the giant ribbon. We received a very lovely email from Lauren’s mom back in April. Tracey explained how Lauren was so pleased that she was able to rescue a bee that she had found on the pavement outside of her house. Lauren and her mom often shop at Becketts for some local honey. We thought it would be lovely for them to open our sunflower field this year.

We invite the public to come and visit our sunflower field over the next few weeks to enjoy the beautiful array of brightly coloured sunflowers. Sadly, the sunflowers in the field opposite the A435 aren’t quite up to their usual standards this year, but hey that is farming!

By the time this is published we will have finished all our combining and the harvest season will be over. This is usually a very joyous occasion but sadly this year we mourn the loss of a very valued member of the farming team, Lester. Lester was a magnificent machine operator. He spent over 12 years working for Becketts and very much enjoyed spending many hours out in the fields combining during harvest season.

You may remember I told you earlier on that I passed my helicopter test which gave me a license to fly a 4-seater helicopter. I have since passed my helicopter test which now gives me a license to fly a 5-seater helicopter. You may be thinking that doesn’t sound much of a difference; however, this will allow me to take a second pilot on flight, so I am able to fly to trickier places. My next goal is to fly across the channel to La Touche in France to enjoy a delicious meal at a very good fish restaurant called La Pakard.

The Restaurant is becoming increasingly busier and the appetite for eating out is certainly returning, which is great news of course. Thank you to those that have been to our Restaurant post lockdown, and we look forward to welcoming more of you back soon! Look out for our brand-new menu launching mid-September, don’t worry our Old Faithful breakfast is staying, but we do have some classics returning and some exciting new dishes arriving.
