Looking back to December last year, we want to take the opportunity to thank all of our staff and customers who got involved with fundraising.

Our annual appeal for St Basils during December collects tonnes of essentials for this homelessness charity. We collect long life foods and toiletries for their accommodations in both Redditch and Birmingham city centre. The charity supports young homeless people, or those at risk of becoming homeless. The centres have long-term bedsits for young people to get back on their feet and the charity encourages residents to learn essential life skills.

Your donations are given as gift hampers to residents, so that they have something valuable to open on Christmas day. Staff in the support centres are able to tailor the hampers based on what we donate. Therefore appropriate items are given to each resident. For example young mothers with children may receive children’s toiletries and treats.

The centres also reserve some of the donated items for emergency situations. Often when vulnerable young people turn up on the doorstep of the centre, they come with next to nothing. In those situations, being able to provide that person with a few essentials and home comforts is invaluable.

We also managed to raise £68.97 in December alone through the collection tin on the Restaurant counter. So, thanks to all who contributed.

In addition to the St Basils appeal, our staff members enjoyed Christmas Jumper Day on 13^th December. This event is in aid of Save the Children. As a team we raised £105.40 for this amazing charity.
