Hallelujah! The end seems to be in sight and even better, I am off to have my first dose of the vaccine later this afternoon! I often refrain from being political in my monthly news but I am more than impressed with the roll out of the vaccination. I believe it is certainly something to celebrate and shout about and I am all for having a COVID-19 vaccination passport. The most important thing to come from this vaccination programme is confidence. Confidence in the public is what is needed to take us out of this lockdown and lead us forward to the future.

With this dry weather and early signs of Spring we have been enjoying over the last week or so, I have managed to do the first lawn mowing of the year! As a boy, I used to cut my Father’s lawn for pocket money and this still happens today. However, the pocket money is currently under review!

Valentine’s Day came and went and I did my duties by cooking a delish 3 course meal. Prawn cocktail to start, fillet steak with peppercorn sauce for main and a salted caramel Magnum for dessert. Mostly prepared from scratch but occasionally I need a little help!

What is happening on the Farm you may ask? With all the recent winter weather, the farmland is still very much wet, wet, wet. We hope to get out within the next week or so to spread some fertiliser. Come May we will have the amazing sea of yellow rapeseed flower spread across the fields.

We must be pro-active about our Easter Event and announce sadly it will not happen again this year. Preparation was underway for Easter this year. 12 baby goats will be shortly arriving on the field next to Shirley Aquatics very soon. They always bring enjoyment to the little ones’ faces during Spring.

We endeavour to keep you up to date with what is happening here at Becketts Farm. Particularly with the new roadmap that was outlined on Monday by the Government. We have had some success with our takeaway menu, especially with our Sunday Roasts. We will continue to offer this service for as long as possible. With Mother’s Day just around the corner, I understand that the Restaurant team have a Sunday Roast Family Feast Deal on offer. You will find more information about this on our website here.
