Feeling the January blues? Keep your spirits up this month with ‘Ginuary’. The month of January is now the time to take part in a variety of different challenges, with some more difficult than others. If you are a gin lover, then there will be no issues taking part in this challenge – Ginuary.
Whilst taking part in this challenge, you are encouraged to drink gin and explore new brands and flavours.
Ginspiration
If you are in need of some inspiration, our Farm Shop will not let you down. We stock a variety of gins, including Two Birds Spirits, 1000 Trades and the Sweet Potato Spirit Company.
Inspired by and produced in Birmingham, 1000 Trades Spirits is a local supplier of gin. They produce small batch London dry gin and a variety of flavoured gins, including: lemon, orange and raspberry.
Gin Cocktails
Maybe, this Ginuary, you can change the way you drink gin by mixing up some cocktails at home. This may encourage you to try some new flavours and combinations, which could lead you to choose a new favourite!
Two Birds Spirits have a delicious selection of quick and easy cocktails you can mix at home, using one of their gin varieties. Our personal favourites are ‘Violet Collins’ and a ‘Kissmopolitan’, using their Parma Violet and Strawberry & Vanilla gin.
Ice and a slice?
Those comforting words we so often hear when waiting at the bar for our drink!
Many question having ice in their gin, believing it may dilute their drink but in actual fact if you use lots of big ice cubes, they take longer to melt whilst still keeping your drink cold.
As far as a slice is concerned, anything goes! The traditional lemon or lime slice can now be swapped for pretty much anything you fancy. Growing popular are strawberries and raspberries, rhubarb or even pepper slices. The garnish can be however weird and wonderful as you’d like it to be. It is used to enhance or add to the flavour of your gin and of course, makes the drink look appetising. In fact, a lemon or lime slice is better for lower quality gins, as their strong citrus flavour can overpower the strength of the gin.
Don’t forget, you can find lots of fresh fruit and vegetables to garnish your drinks at our Greengrocers in the Farm Shop.
Already started a different January challenge?
Don’t worry – we’ve got you covered!
If you have already set your mind at taking part in Veganuary, you could still take part in Ginuary. The spirits we stock from the Sweet Potato Spirit Company are in fact vegan, so you can set your mind at ease and enjoy a delicious gin from their range.
If you have already started Dry January, then Ginuary is ruled out for this year. Fear not – you can head over to our ‘January Bandwagon’ blog where you will find a selection of other January challenges you can take part in. Just remember to save this blog for next year.
