Now Autumn if officially here, this super easy Plum and White Chocolate Crumble is sure to bring a smile to your face on a chilly day. A combination of a yummy fruit filling and an extra sweet white chocolate bonus in the crumble topping. The crumble is a comforting classic pudding, which tastes delicious made with the seasonal British plums that are available in our Greengrocers. Ready in: 45 minutes
For the filling
750g Plums, halved and destoned
50g soft light brown sugar
2tsp vanilla bean paste
For the topping
175g plain flour
125g butter, chilled and cubed
50g rolled oats
75g demerara sugar
50g roughly chopped white chocolate
Preheat the oven to 200C or fan 180C. Begin by preparing the plums for the filling. Half, destone and roughly chop the plums; then put in a large pan with the sugar, vanilla and 2tsp of water.
Cover and cook over a medium heat for around 5 minutes, or until the plums have slightly softened. Empty this filling into an ovenproof dish ready to add the topping later.
For the crumble topping, put the flour into a mixing bowl and using your fingertips, rub in the cubed butter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. As an alternative, you could use a food processor to combine – however for best results combine with your hands.
Next, mix in the oats, demerara sugar and white chocolate with a spoon or your hand. Once mixed, sprinkle the topping over the fruit layer.
Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the crumble looks golden in colour. Serve with custard or Bennetts Ice Cream which can be found in our Farm Shop. We’d recommend choosing the classic Vanilla ice cream as the perfect match.
